Hyundai Construction Equipment is launching a productive, dedicated materials handler to the European market. The HW270A MH is a 28-tonne machine for customers seeking a powerful handling solution for medium to heavy-duty applications.
- 6m hydraulically elevating cab structure provides commanding visibility
- Powerful six-cylinder Stage V diesel engine delivers performance and economy
- Long and wide undercarriage with front and rear outriggers for maximum stability
- Comfortable low noise operator’s cab with overload warning
- Choice of arms to suit wide range of materials handling tasks
Power And Precision
Designed and built specifically as a materials handling machine, the HW270A MH uses a wider and longer undercarriage than a wheeled excavator, with outriggers at both ends to maximise stability when working at reach. Available with a choice of straight or gooseneck arms, the handler offers a maximum working reach of up to 12.41m with a maximum bucket pin height of 5.4m and the machine can be used with a range of attachments.
Powered by a six-cylinder Stage V diesel engine, the handler boasts an output of 141kW (189hp). The engine is equipped with a variable pressure turbocharger, optimising airflow to deliver response and economy in all operations. A standard reversible cooling fan contributes to improved fuel efficiency, maximising uptime in dusty conditions.
An electronically controlled twin-pump hydraulic system works with the engine control to provide maximum economy and performance, while a one-touch Power Boost function instantly delivers optimum performance for hard digging and heavy lifting. An additional axial piston motor drives a two-stage planetary reduction gear swing motor, delivering maximum torque and faster slew times.
The undercarriage is powered by an axial piston motor, driving through a two-speed powershift transmission. The operator can switch from high to low speed in working mode and there is an additional switch to provide a creep speed function. Travel speeds are 4km/h in creep mode, with 9 and 19km/h available in low and high speeds. Automatic multi-disc brakes are released as the transmission pedal is pressed, while a spring-applied hydraulically released parking brake works on the transmission shaft.
Operator Control
The HW270A MH is equipped with a hydraulically elevating cab structure, offering up to 2.6m of lift to allow the operator a clear view of the working area and into trucks or loading hoppers. An Emergency Cab Descent system allows safe evacuation in the event of a loss of engine power.
The spacious ROPS/FOPS cab features air conditioning, a reclining operator’s seat with lumbar support and heating options. Large windows provide good visibility all around the machine and a rear-view camera is standard. A standard AAVM all-round visibility system, with 360° cameras, provides complete visibility around the machine for the operator, boosting site safety and preventing collisions. A virtual wall system prevents the machine colliding with obstructions and a standard Overload Warning System provides additional safety in lifting operations
The seat and controls can be adjusted to suit all sizes, with independent height options for the seat and console. A 7” colour monitor and toggle switch allow the operator to select individual machine preferences to suit the working application. Selectable power modes manage the balance between power and economy and the machine is equipped with standard joystick steering, reducing effort and fatigue for the operator.
There is easy access to service and maintenance points from the top, sides and bottom of the upper structure, reducing downtime for customers. All Hyundai machines are supplied with the company” s Hi-MATE telematic monitoring system, providing customers and dealers with real-time monitoring of all machine operating functions. The system also provides remote diagnostics, allowing service technicians to arrive with the right parts, first time.
Dedicated Design
Whether working in a waste environment, in scrap metal or in a port loading and unloading operation, the HW270A MH provides customers with a dedicated handling machine that can be used with a range of attachments, from orange peel grapples to clamshell buckets. The parallel lift cab delivers a commanding operating position, that ensures maximum productivity, whatever the duty cycle. Hyundai continues to develop a growing range of machinery, dedicated to providing customers with the right solution to their individual requirements.
“The HW270A MH has been specifically built for materials handling operations, delivering increased operator awareness, protection from overloads and collisions, and precise control from a commanding driving position,” said Natalia Barbieri, EU Product Manager.
“With a driveline that has been engineered for performance, the HW270A MH provides a new level of productivity for a wide range of handling applications.”
