Atlas 1604 ZW Excavator Railwork: The Ultimate Heavy-Duty Machine Tackling Berlin's U6 Ubahn Upgrade Railway Works!
The Atlas 1604 ZW Excavator Railwork is one of the most impressive heavy-duty rail machines brought to upgrade Berlin’s U6 Ubhhn from Kurt Schumacher Platz to Tegel in the north.
The northern U6 line is undergoing a significant renovation until spring 2025. The project involves stabilizing the railway embankment, replacing a bridge and renewing six stations with a total cost estimated at around 90 million euros.
The Atlas 1604 ZW Excavator, manufactured between 1995 and 2003, is a versatile and powerful machine 21-tonne machine that is specifically designed for heavy-duty railway work with its 127 horsepower Deutz engine and rail wheel configuration.
